First Responder Training Overview
Our First Responder Training prepares participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide critical pre-hospital care. This course is ideal for professional first responders or individuals seeking to become first responders.
Participants will learn life-saving techniques to sustain life, prevent further injuries, and manage illnesses until advanced medical personnel can take over. The course includes comprehensive CPR Level HCP and AED training, ensuring that participants are fully equipped to respond to a variety of emergencies.
With flexible scheduling options, our 40-hour course is designed to be accessible to busy professionals, ensuring a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of emergency care in both theoretical and practical scenarios.
Course Content
The First Responder Training course is structured into five main sections, providing participants with a holistic understanding of emergency care:
Part 1: Preparing to Respond
- The role of the responder
- Assessing the emergency scene
- Disease transmission prevention
Part 2: Establishing Priorities of Care
- Anatomy and physiology basics
- Patient assessment
- Managing respiratory and circulatory emergencies
- Addressing bleeding and shock
Part 3: Traumatic Injuries
- Managing soft tissue, musculoskeletal, head, spine, chest, abdominal, and pelvic injuries
Part 4: Medical Emergencies
- Handling sudden illnesses, poisoning, and heat/cold-related emergencies
Part 5: Special Populations and Situations
- Crisis intervention for special populations, childbirth, and managing multiple casualty incidents
- Safe patient transportation and movement
In addition, the course meets any legislative requirements, and participants will receive CPR Level HCP certification, including the use of automated external defibrillators (AED).
Certification and Requirements
- Duration: 40 hours (with flexible scheduling)
Prerequisite: CPR Level C
Completion Requirements: 100% attendance, successful skills demonstration, a minimum of 80% on the written exam, and completion of one evaluated scenario.
CERTIFICATION
3-year certification in First Responder, CPR Level HCP, and AED. Recertification is available through a 20-hour refresher course.
COURSE DURATION
40 hours (with flexible scheduling).
SUPPLIED MATERIALS
Participants will receive a Red Cross Emergency Care Textbook, Red Cross Emergency Care Workbook, Certification card and optional wall certificate.
