Course Features:

• Comprehensive Learning: The course covers critical areas such as fall protection systems, the correct selection and use of personal protective equipment including full body harnesses, lanyards and fall arrest systems, anchor points, rescue planning, and legal requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Practical Skills Assessment: Includes hands-on inspection of fall protection equipment, correct donning and doffing of a full body harness, fall clearance calculation, and maintaining tie-off when changing anchor points.
• Certification: Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate approved by the Chief Prevention Officer, valid for three years on construction projects across Ontario.

Course Information

• Duration: 3.5 hours (half day)
• Delivery: In class only — Ontario does not permit eLearning or distance learning for the practical module
• Class size: Maximum 12 participants per instructor
• Materials: All necessary course materials and workbooks are provided
• Examination: Refresher — practical exam, with a pass mark of at least 75%

Prerequisites

Participants must have previously and successfully completed both modules of a CPO-approved Working at Heights training program to enrol in this refresher course.

Participants must bring their Working at Heights proof-of-training card showing their Learner ID number. Anyone unable to provide proof of prior approved training cannot be admitted to the refresher.

Attendance and Certification

To successfully complete the course, participants must:

• Attend 100% of the course
• Demonstrate the required practical skills
• Pass the practical exam with a minimum mark of 75%

Participants are also required to present a government-issued photo ID to receive their certification. On successful completion, your training record is submitted to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
