This policy sets out how F.A.S.T. Rescue manages cancellations, rescheduling, no-shows, late arrivals, participant substitutions, course cancellations by F.A.S.T. Rescue, exceptional circumstances and blended course registrations for public course participants.

Definitions

Cancellation. A cancellation is when a participant cancels a course without rescheduling for other dates at that same time. If you advise us that you will reschedule at a later date, this is treated as a cancellation, not a reschedule.

Reschedule. A reschedule is when you advise us that you must change the dates of the course. You are not first cancelling, but simply asking for changed dates.

All fees are in Canadian dollars and subject to HST. Cancellation and rescheduling timelines are calculated from the scheduled course start time.

Cancelling a public course registration

Advanced First Aid courses — Advanced Marine First Aid, Advanced First Aid, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and First Responder:

  • Cancellations received 72 hours or more before the course are refunded less a $250 + HST administration fee.
  • Cancellations received less than 72 hours before the course are not eligible for a refund.

Non-Advanced First Aid courses include CPR, BLS, AED, Basic First Aid (BFA), Intermediate First Aid (IFA), Working at Heights (WAH) and JHSC:

  • Cancellations received 72 hours or more before the course are refunded less a $25 + HST administration fee.
  • Cancellations received less than 72 hours before the course are not eligible for a refund.

Rescheduling a public course registration

  • The first reschedule requested 72 hours or more before the course is free.
  • A second or subsequent reschedule is subject to a $25 + HST fee.
  • A reschedule requested 24 to 72 hours before the course is subject to a $40 + HST fee.
  • A reschedule requested less than 24 hours before the course is not permitted. The registration is forfeited.

No-shows and late arrivals

  • A participant who does not attend the course forfeits 100% of the registration fee.
  • A participant who arrives late and cannot be admitted to the course forfeits 100% of the registration fee.

Participant substitutions

A participant substitution is free up to the course start time, provided the substitute participant meets all eligibility requirements.

Blended course registrations

Once the online component of a blended course has been accessed or completed, the online portion is non-refundable. The applicable transfer rules apply to the practical component.

Course cancellations by F.A.S.T. Rescue

If F.A.S.T. Rescue cancels a course, you may receive a full refund or transfer the registration to another course at no charge.

Genuine emergencies or exceptional circumstances

Genuine emergencies or exceptional circumstances are subject to management discretion.
