Joint Health & Safety Refresher Training

To maintain a safe and compliant workplace in Ontario, Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) members are required to renew their certification every three years.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development mandates this refresher training to ensure that JHSC members remain up-to-date with the latest regulations and best practices.

F.A.S.T. Rescue’s Joint Health & Safety Refresher Training is designed to help certified JHSC members refresh their knowledge of hazard recognition, risk assessment, and workplace safety standards. The course reinforces key safety concepts and ensures participants are prepared to continue contributing to a safer work environment.

This training is available through in-class and distance learning formats, allowing for flexibility while ensuring high-quality, interactive instruction.

Course Content

The Joint Health & Safety Refresher Training covers essential topics, including:

• Review of Key Concepts from JHSC Part 1: Revisit the roles and responsibilities of JHSC members and the principles learned in the initial certification.

• Hazard Recognition, Assessment, Control, and Evaluation: Refresh your understanding of the RACE process, ensuring you can effectively identify and manage workplace hazards.

• Legislative Updates: Stay up-to-date with any changes to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related regulations.

• Action Plan Development: Learn how to create and update actionable safety plans based on current workplace conditions and hazard assessments.

Certification and Requirements

• Duration: 1 day (dependent on delivery method).

• Delivery Methods: Offered through in-class and distance learning options for participant convenience.

• Completion Requirements: Full attendance and successful completion of any required assessments.

• Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will renew their JHSC certification for an additional three years.
