⚠️ Your certificate must be current to recertify. This course is only available to participants whose First Responder certificate has not yet expired. If your certificate has already expired, you’ll need to complete the full four-day First Responder course before becoming certified again.

What Is the First Responder Recertification Course?
The Canadian Red Cross First Responder Recertification course is a 20-hour, two-day program designed to renew the certification of qualified first responders whose current FR certificate has not yet expired.
This is not a shortened basic first aid course. It is a professional-level refresher that revisits and reassesses the full scope of pre-hospital emergency care skills covered in the original First Responder program.
You will practise patient assessment, trauma management, high-performance CPR, AED use, hemorrhage control, airway management, and scenario-based emergency response — all delivered by experienced Canadian Red Cross instructors.
Upon successful completion, your Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate is renewed for a further 3 years from the date of completion.
F.A.S.T. Rescue is a Canadian Red Cross authorized provider that has been delivering WSIB-approved workplace safety training in Toronto and across Ontario since 1998. Your renewal certificate carries full Red Cross credibility, is recognized by employers and organizations across Canada that accept Canadian Red Cross First Responder certification, and meets federal and applicable provincial requirements for Advanced First Aid.
Eligibility and Certificate Submission
Prerequisite
You must hold a current Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate to register for this course. Participants must also be at least 18 years of age.
If your FR certificate has lapsed, you’ll need to complete the full First Responder course (four days, $575 + tax) before becoming certified again.

What Do I Need to Pass the Recertification Course?
To receive your renewed Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate, you must meet all of the following:

Course Schedule and What to Expect
The First Responder Recertification course runs over two consecutive full days, starting at 8:00 a.m. each day. Total training time is approximately 20 hours.
Training is entirely in-person and hands-on — 100% attendance across both days is a Red Cross requirement.

- Valid government-issued photo ID (18+ verification)
- Copy of your current First Responder certificate (if not already submitted)
- Comfortable clothing for physical skills practice (expect floor work, kneeling, and simulations)
- Water and snacks or lunch for break periods
