Joint Health & Safety Level 2 Training
The Joint Health & Safety Level 2 course is the next step for Ontario workplaces with 20 or more employees, building on the foundational knowledge gained in JHSC Level 1.
This course equips certified members with the practical skills needed to identify and address specific workplace hazards, ensuring a safer work environment in compliance with Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Participants will apply the principles of hazard recognition, assessment, control, and evaluation to real-world scenarios, creating actionable safety plans and recommendations to mitigate potential risks. Whether delivered in-class or through distance learning, this outcome-based program provides flexibility while ensuring participants gain the necessary skills to contribute effectively to their Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC).
Course Content
The Joint Health & Safety Level 2 course covers the following key topics:
Review of JHSC Part 1 Concepts: A refresher on the roles and responsibilities of JHSC members and the key principles learned in Level 1.
Hazard Recognition, Assessment, Control, and Evaluation: Participants will gain a deeper understanding of this process and apply it to each hazard module, focusing on workplace-specific risks.
Workplace-Specific Hazards: Participants will explore hazards unique to their work environment and learn how to address them using the RACE method (Recognition, Assessment, Control, and Evaluation).
Action Plan Development: Learn how to create a comprehensive draft action plan based on hazard assessments, outlining control measures and safety recommendations.
Legislation and Compliance: A detailed review of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation specific to Ontario workplaces.
Outcome and Certification
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Describe key concepts from JHSC Part 1.
Apply the principles of hazard recognition, assessment, control, and evaluation to specific workplace hazards.
Create a draft action plan that includes practical recommendations for improving workplace safety.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive JHSC Level 2 Certification, allowing them to serve as certified members in their Ontario workplace, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and promoting a culture of safety.
Delivery Methods
This course is offered in two formats:
In-Class Training: For participants who prefer hands-on, face-to-face learning.
Distance Learning: Offering the flexibility of remote participation while maintaining the quality and interactivity of the program.
CERTIFICATION
