Why Newmarket Residents and Employers Choose F.A.S.T. Rescue

Blended Intermediate (Standard) First Aid training is one of the most important things you can do for your career, your team, and anyone around you in an emergency. F.A.S.T. Rescue has been training Ontario workers and individuals since 1998. We are a Canadian, veteran-owned company, WSIB-approved, and trusted by some of Ontario’s most recognized employers.

Our Newmarket location at the Newmarket Public Library offers convenient, high-quality first aid training right in your community, with free parking, a comfortable learning environment, and certified instructors who make the day engaging and memorable.

Whether you work in construction along the Highway 404 corridor, in health care near Southlake Regional Health Centre, in manufacturing in Newmarket’s industrial park, or you are a parent, caregiver, coach, or job seeker in Newmarket, Aurora, East Gwillimbury, or anywhere in York Region, this course gives you a certificate that employers trust and that meets Ontario workplace first aid requirements under WSIB’s program.

What Is Blended First Aid Training? (And Why It’s Better)

How It Works — 2 Simple Steps

Blended first aid training is a hybrid format that combines the flexibility of online learning with the hands-on practice you need to respond effectively in an emergency. It is the most popular way to get certified in Ontario because it saves time without compromising quality.

Step 1 — Complete Your Online Theory at Home

After you register, our training team sends your login details within 2 business days. You then complete the full first aid theory component online at your own pace, on any device, from anywhere. Most students finish it in 4 to 6 hours. You can study in the evenings, over a weekend, or during your lunch break.

Step 2 — Attend Your In-Person Skills Day in Newmarket

Choose a date from our calendar and join your instructor at the Newmarket Public Library for a full day of hands-on practice. You will work through every life-saving skill, including CPR on a manikin, AED use, choking response, wound care, and more, with a certified F.A.S.T. Rescue instructor guiding you every step of the way.

That’s it. Two steps. One certificate. Valid for 3 years.

Is Blended First Aid WSIB-Approved?

Workplace first aid training must be delivered by a WSIB-approved provider. F.A.S.T. Rescue’s blended format combines online theory with in-person hands-on skills assessment to meet Ontario workplace first aid training requirements. Online-only courses, however, are not accepted for workplace first aid certification because they do not include a hands-on skills assessment.

F.A.S.T. Rescue’s blended program aligns with the updated WSIB First Aid Program launching on June 22, 2026.

WSIB June 2026 Update — What Newmarket Employers Need to Know

Ontario’s WSIB is launching a modernized First Aid Program on June 22, 2026, aligned with the new national CSA Z1210:24 standard. Here is what is changing, and what is staying the same, for employers in the Newmarket area:

What is changing:

  • Course names are changing: Standard First Aid → Intermediate First Aid / Emergency First Aid → Basic First Aid
  • Only providers approved under the new WSIB program can issue valid certificates starting June 22, 2026
  • A new searchable WSIB provider list is launching with filters for location, language, and delivery method

What is staying the same:

  • The underlying employer first aid obligations under Regulation 1101 remain in place.
  • Certificates are still valid for 3 years
  • All certificates issued before June 22, 2026, remain valid until they expire
  • Training must be delivered by a WSIB-approved provider, and the updated program aligns with CSA Z1210:24.

F.A.S.T. Rescue is fully approved under the updated WSIB program. Every certificate we issue—before and after June 22—meets Ontario workplace first aid requirements under WSIB’s program.

How long does the online portion take?

The online theory module takes most students 4 to 6 hours to complete. You can do it in one sitting or spread it over several sessions—it is completely self-paced and available on any device, 24 hours a day.

How quickly will I receive my online course login?

Your login credentials are sent by our training team within 2 business days of registration.

How many first aid certified employees does my Ontario workplace need?

As a general rule under Regulation 1101, the minimum requirements are:

  • 1 to 5 workers per shift: at least 1 person with Basic First Aid (formerly Emergency First Aid)

CPR Level BLS (Basic Life Support) is required for health-care professionals and includes additional techniques. If your workplace requires BLS, contact us and we will direct you to the right course.

Can I take first aid training on weekends in Newmarket?

Our Newmarket public sessions run throughout the month. Check the date selector above for the latest schedule, including weekday and weekend options.

Is this the same as the new WSIB Intermediate First Aid certificate?

Yes. As of June 22, 2026, WSIB is renaming Standard First Aid as Intermediate First Aid as part of its updated program aligned with the CSA Z1210:24 national standard for workplace first aid training. In simple terms, CSA Z1210 sets the standard for workplace first aid training and training levels, while CSA Z1220 is the separate standard for workplace first aid kits and supplies.

Under the updated WSIB program, Standard First Aid is now called Intermediate First Aid, but it is technically the same level of training under the new terminology. F.A.S.T. Rescue is approved to deliver training under the updated program.
