Walk Safely this Winter and Avoid Injuries

 

The holiday season has arrived, which means we have a great excuse to get outside and walk around, have some family fun and do some shopping. Along with the holiday season, freezing temperatures are here, bringing with them freezing rain, piles of snow on the ground and hidden icy sidewalks and roads.

 

Falls on ice is by far the most common cause of injury during winter time and we know that any of us is at risk of falling on icy sidewalks and roads, but it is potentially dangerous for elderly people who can have serious injuries and fractures from a fall. For many of them, these injuries can be life changing. Canadian scientists performing a study on winter falls and slips have learned that one in three seniors in Canada falls each year and up to 40 per cent that have a serious injury such as a broken hip will not recover. Genie Lift Safety Notice

 

Genie LiftThere has been a safety noticed published regarding specific Genie Lift models, including GS-3232, GS-4047 and X-14. The issue is a control system malfunction, dated February 27, 2017.

The issue with the GS-3232 model is regarding a control system malfunction affecting the operator’s ability to lift and drive the machine in a safe manor. This new safety notice takes place of safety notice 120013 which was issued on October 15, 2012.

The malfunction with GS4047 and X-14 is causing the platform of the unit to lower after the controls have been released, resulting in unintended machine movement. This malfunction can result in hazardous situations for the operator and others in the area. Continue reading Genie Lift Safety Notice
