Required Corrective Actions
-
Determine the date the batteries were installed
in your AED
-
If the batteries were installed more than three
years ago, replace them immediately and add a label showing the next
scheduled replacement date.
-
If the batteries are less than three years old,
add the enclosed label completed with the next scheduled replacement
date.
-
In lieu of adding battery replacement labels,
you may obtain new complimentary software for your AED from

How can I tell if my Zoll AED Plus requires
corrective action?
Check the serial number on the bottom of your
AED Plus. If the last 6 digits are under 200000,
then your AED Plus will require corrective
action. Any AED Plus purchased before Feb 19,
2009 is within this serial number range and will
require corrective action.
What
do I do to correct this?
If your AED Plus has been determined to require
corrective action, replace all 10 of the
current batteries which were installed over 3
years ago.
Do I
need to take action immediately?
If the batteries on your AED Plus was installed
MORE than
3
years ago, change the batteries immediately.
If you installed your unit less than 3 years
ago, you do not need to have the
batteries changed. However, make sure to
change them when your batteries reach 3 years.
What
will happen if I don't change the batteries?
Your batteries may
not function properly in that case. You
may start your AED Plus to perform a rescue and
your AED Plus may recommend a shock but your
batteries may not be capable of building up the
charge required. Your AED Plus will then
prompt you to "Change batteries" and will not
deliver the required shock.
How
likely am I to have this problem?
Very few units
have exhibited this problem. Take the
necessary precautions however to ensure that
your AED Plus performs optimally.
What
caused this problem?
After a long period of non-use in stand-by
mode, internal resistance can build up in the
batteries. This may interfere with the
battery set's ability to deliver the stored
charge in a timely manner.
Should such a failure occur, what would my AED Plus
say?
It would say, "Don't touch patient. Analyzing".
Then it would say, "Shock advised". Then
"No shock delivered. Change batteries. Change
batteries. Start CPR".
What
do I do if I have to use my AED Plus before I do any
corrective action?
- Immediately start CPR.
- Power down the AED Plus by pushing the
on/off button.
- Wait 10 seconds until the unit has reset
and then turn it back on.
- Try using the AED Plus again once it has
been reset. The batteries may deliver
the required shock.
